RE: Power Washing

Ditto on the hand washing. It's a lot like washing a building - because it is a building. But not needed all that often in most cases. Think we wash ours about once a month - maybe.

RE: TRYING TO PULL THE TRIGGER

We have the ROO 23SS - bought from RVW with absolutely no pressure - and are 100% pleased with the quality, floorplan and everything about it. I can tell you that RVW does require a deposit, but you need to talk to them personally to see what their refund policy might or might not be. Their units do "fly off the lot" and for a very good reason - they're one of the best units for a very good price. Take a good walk through the ROO and see if it fits your needs. Enjoy your shopping!

RE: Insurance referalls! thanks

We have Geico and have been very pleased for both the car and F150 as well as the ROO. Our premium for the ROO is about $90 per 6 month period. Excellent coverage.

RE: Reserve America

Ditto on the Backpacker's magazine. That really hacks me off! I hate having things "pre-checked" for me. If I want it, I'll do my own checking.

RE: RV Cover for 23SS

We store ours in the ROOport (aka covered carport area) but also use the ADCO cover for winter storage. IMHO the ROO is a big investment and anything that will help preserve it's appearance is well worth the $$. The ADCO is breatheable and is easy to put on. Check your Camping World catalog or go online - this time of the year they're usually on sale and often include the tire covers at no extra cost.

RE: when do you HAVE to winterize?

You can extend your season a bit by using a small ceramic heater inside and opening the cabinet doors. We usually start this about the end of October or early November. Weather here in west TN is usually just fine until about that time. We usually winterize and cover for the winter over Thanksgiving weekend or the first weekend in December. We start camping again in February and use the same process when weather dictates. No problems.

RE: Hard Rear Slide Owners... Report, Please!

Can't speak from experience, as we have a 23SS. But my cousin and DH have an expandable. He is about 6'1" or 6'2" and has commented that there is no room for a bigger person. Have you been able to "try one on"? I would seriously doubt that you would be comfortable. Good luck in your search.

RE: End of Camping Season :>( here in Alberta

Here in TN we can camp until the end of Nov or early Dec. Yea! Weather permitting, we're heading out this coming weekend. DH has had some health issues recently and we REALLY need this time to recharge. And DS is having another knee surgery, so that knocks a couple more weeks (hope no more than that!) out of our schedule. Should be able to get out again mid-Oct and then as many as we can squeeze in before Thanksgiving. Start planning for next year, all you northerners.

RE: Starcraft Air - Ducted or Not? Importance???

Our ROO is ducted for both heat and air. We have no problems with it and it does a fine job.

RE: bunk end fan/light combos

This little project was already on DHs "to do" list. We've used the fan/lights almost the entire time we're camping and we're on our third season. Ours stops on low, rather than high speed. And while he's got it apart, it could really stand a little cleaning. Thanks for all the good info - it'll make his job easier.

We have the individual covers - purchased from CW at the same time as our ADCO cover.

RE: Mounting to thin plywood walls

Ditto on the velcro. We've used it for the clock, pictures and a small weather station. Works great and does not pull the wallcovering off - just take it slow and easy. You might use a screw in the keyhole and then a bit of velcro for stability. Unless it is pretty heavy, you should be good.

RE: How long does it take to set up your HTT?

It's just the two of us and it takes about 30 - 45 minutes from backing into the site, dropping and making the beds (we use real sheets), putting out the slide, awning and chairs, etc. We usually just take it easy and take our time. Normally we pack up slowly on Sunday morning and just do a little here and there until we're finished. Two weeks ago DH got to feeling really puny and decided we should probably head for home on Saturday afternoon - we had everything stowed as it should be, folded up and out of the site within about 20 - 30 minutes. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want to, but it's really no big deal. Enjoy!
PS Forgot about the gizmos - that'll add maybe 5 - 10 minutes including getting the folding ladder out of the truck and also hooking up the "high wind" bungees.

RE: Camping nights per year

We're at 26 right now and will add 4 more over Labor Day (we'll be breaking our "NO CAMPING ON HOLIDAY WEEKENDS" rule for the first time). We should be able to get several more weekends in before Thanksgiving, so would expect to be able to get really close to that #40. And we haven't even done "camp driveway" this year. We love our ROO and the time we spend together.

RE: roo 23 ss awning

Our original awning was just replaced due to a "heavy downpour ïssue" (which means that we didn't put it up before the downpour and it collapsed - our stupidity) and the paperwork showed it to be 17'. We also have the CW 9 x 12 and just position it at the steps and then back the 12'. Remember that many sites just aren't big enough for a wider mat. As it is, there are times that we have to open just the 2 sections to accomodate the table and whatever is on the site. The 9 x 12 looks a lot bigger than you'd expect when you get it opened up.

RE: Concertone question... all kdding aside...

We must have the same Concertone as Chuck - no surround sound. We just went to Radio Shack and bought a set of little speakers for about $15. Plug ém into the back of the TV and they do the job nicely.

RE: Rockwood Roo - Awning Color

Our original awning was blue - also the vinyl trim on the bunkends and a portion of the decals. But since our little awning disaster several weeks ago the replacement is also blue, but is the acrylic rather than vinyl. The underside of the vinyl awning was all white, but the acrylic is the same blue stripe as the topside. I was afraid it was going to darken the area, but does not seem to be a problem. We did notice this past weekend that, as advertised, the acrylic is more breatheable and supposedly 22% cooler - whoever came up with a number for that had too much time on their hands.

RE: For those Who Like Cutting Holes in Their 23ss Roo's...

Well, I mentioned the window to DH. And our DFs we camped with this past weekend also mentioned it - several times. If I remember correctly, the answer was "not just NO, but.......". We did take a look and it looks like there is room between the pantry and the exterior wall to put a window on both ends. But think I have my answer. At least for now.

RE: What I'd like to see in the Roo or Jayco 23SS

Happy with our ROO 23Ss just the way it is. Well, that LeafPeeperWindow(tm) would be nice, but that would mean that I would have to move the pictures of Sam, World's Best Camping Lab and I don't have a good place for them. Guess I'll just have to be happy as is.

RE: For those Who Like Cutting Holes in Their 23ss Roo's...

Oooohh, I like that! I'll show it to DH, but I think the answer is NO! That was one of the things we liked about the 21SS and also the 232 - windows. Great job.
